One-Place Studies

"A One Place Study (OPS) is a study of the genealogy and history of a specific place."  from The One Place Study Project at WikiTree.  More information about this type of Study can be found at the web site of the Society for One-Place Studies.  In effect, it's a way of firmly connecting local history and genealogy.

My interest in starting this Study is in the number of my ancestors who lived in Rockland at some point.  Doing research of my ancestors there, visiting the town and the many communities there and the cemeteries began to reveal some of the history and flavor of the town.  It's a pretty rural area with lots of trees.

There is much to do and it should be very interesting.
